Chelsea talisman has revealed that he is glad to re-unite with long time friend and strike partner Radamel Falcao at Stamford Bridge this season. Radamel Falcao has joined the Premier League champions this summer on loan from AS Monaco after an unsuccessful campaign with Manchester United last season.
Costa had previously played alongside Falcao for two seasons at Atletico Madrid were he was mostly a secod fiddle to the Colombian. After Falcao left the club in 2013 for AS Monaco, Diego Costa was promoted to the main striker role and he did wonders for the club.
Last summer he joined Chelsea FC and was the third highest scorer in the Premier League. Since leaving Atletico, Radamel Falcao’s career has gone bizzarre. Due to contineous injuries, he saw a dip in his form and AS Monaco eventually loaned him to Manchester United on the transfer deadline day. A lot was expected from el Tigre but the striker did not live upto the expectations.
Manchester United released the player at the end of the season and he joined the Blues on loan.
Regarding Falcao’s move to Chelsea, Dailymail quoted Costa: “It’s good for us that he didn’t have the best of seasons as that’s why he’s now with us.
“We know that Falcao is a hugely talented player. The only thing he needs is to feel loved and trusted, and he will get both here.
“The manager is very happy to have brought him in and we are all very excited to have him in our squad because he’s a great player.
“He gets on very well with his team-mates and he will help us a lot off the field too.”
Regarding Falcao’s ruptured knee and other injury problems, Costa further added:“I suffered an injury similar to his and now I’m fine. All he needs is the consistency of regular football and to feel loved.
“If he wasn’t very happy at United, whatever may have been missing there, he will get it here.”
