Cristiano Ronaldo Won’t Play In Al Nassr’s Final League Game Of The Season – Here’s Why

According to Saudi Arabian sports newspaper Al-Riyadiah, Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Al-Nassr’s last Saudi Pro League match of the season against Al-Fateh on Wednesday (May 31) owing to a muscular issue. Al-Nassr’s chances of winning the Saudi Pro League were dashed on Saturday (May 27), as Al-Ettifaq held them to a 1-1 draw.

With one game remaining, the outcome allowed Al-Ittihad to capture the Saudi title. Al-Nassr’s situation was not improved when Cristiano Ronaldo sustained an injury in the game’s closing moments. The legendary Portuguese player had to leave the game in the 84th minute due to a muscular pain.

Youssofu Niakate gave Al-Ettifaq the lead against Al-Nassr 43 minutes into the game. After 11 minutes of the second half, Luiz Gustavo managed to tie the score for Al-Aalami. Cristiano Ronaldo failed to help his side by either scoring or providing an assist as Al Nassr’s title dreams faded away. Nevertheless, the forward was among his team’s top players that night as no player performed better than Cristiano Ronaldo, who had four shots on target.

However, on Monday, May 29, it was revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo had requested the removal of head coach Dinko Jelicic. Although the injury was thought to be minor, it cast doubt on the forward’s ability to play in the match against Al-Fateh.

Al-Nassr’s medical team will present a report on the status of the former Real Madrid superstar on Monday, according to an earlier report from Al-Riyadiah. According to the article, a decision will be taken on his participation in the team’s season-ending game.

Cristiano Ronaldo won’t play against Al-Fateh at Mrsool Park on Wednesday, May 31, according to the same tabloid. Al-Aalami apparently chose against taking a chance on making the superstar’s injury worse. The aforementioned source claims that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner does not have a torn muscle.

On Monday, after receiving treatment at the clinic for more than two hours, he departed the club’s facility. Although Ronaldo’s injury wasn’t significant, the medical team advised against his playing against Al-Fateh. So for the first time since joining Al-Nassr in December, the 38-year-old is expected to miss a game.

Cristiano Ronaldo will depart on vacation on Tuesday, May 30, according to journalist Abdulaziz Al-Osaimi. On June 13, the forward is due to join the Portugal national squad in preparation for their upcoming 2024 European Championship qualifications.

However, amid injury concerns, it is also uncertain whether Ronaldo will ever again play for the Saudi side. It has been reported in recent weeks that he is desperately aiming at a transfer away from Saudi and eyeing a return to Europe. It was even claimed that he contacted Real Madrid for a potential return, but club president Florentino Perez once again rebuffed the opportunity.
