Crystal Palace Close In On Deadline Day Deal For Liverpool Outcast

Jurgen Klopp’s dream of silverware this season hit a big sag this month as Liverpool crashed out of the semi-final of the League Cup just days before facing the same fate in the FA Cup earlier this month.

They also managed to pick up just 2 points from three league games this season, dropping to the 4th place in the points table, 10 points off Chelsea at the top.

Their recent dip in form might have seen Klopp jump into the transfer market for additions but Liverpool are yet to spend this January.

Instead, the only deal that they are hoping to get done before the deadline day is the exit of defender Mamadou Sakho.

The French international was the first choice for Klopp in the previous season but a ban by the WADA for use of a banned substance saw him getting dropped from the squad for the rest of the previous season while he also missed the EURO16 with the national team.

However, he was cleared of the charges in the summer, but his antics on tour to the US before the season cost him bitterly.

Jurgen Klopp was taking none of it and decided to axe him from the first team and Sakho is yet to play a senior game for the side since the start of the season.

He has been keeping himself fit with regular U-23 football, having rejected chances to join clubs in the summer but he has finally accepted that he has not future at Anfield and is set to complete a switch before the deadline day.

According to reports from the Sky Sports, Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are closing in on his signature.

Sam Allardyce, who took over the London based club not long ago, is trying to strengthen his side this month to avoid any relegation battle and has already signed Patrick van Aanholt from Sunderland.

He is now determined to take Sakho to the Selhurst Park and is ready to meet the valuation of the player to beat the likes of Southampton and Spartak Moscow to his signature.

Liverpool are holding out on a price of £20m with loan not an option at all, and the Eagles are looking to negotiate a price that is fruitful for them.

The 26-year-old is still a top class defender and though he has not played a senior game since April last year, he has enough experience to survive at the highest stage.

He can easily make a difference at the Selhurst Park for the rest of the season. But do you think Liverpool should give Sakho another chance?
