According to the latest reports from Telegraph, Crystal Palace has renewed their interest in Liverpool’s misfit striker Christian Benteke.
The 25-year old has been speculated to move away from Anfield in search of first team football. The Reds have already signed Sadio Mane and the player is expected to move away as Klopp has suggested the Belgian that he is not in Klopp’s plans for the upcoming season.
Crystal Palace have already an audacious £25m bid which was rejected by the Reds as they look to sell him for the same £32.5m they brought him last summer.
Klopp is not keen to sell the striker for cheap as he praised the player’s work ethic in his recent interviews. Talking about Benteke’s future, Klopp said: “Everyone knows about it. Christian has already said maybe it makes sense to go to another club.
“Christian is still a great striker. We have a few more strikers and I think it makes more sense to give them match time. But if there are clubs that want a real striker then they have to make real offers – otherwise, we will find solutions.
“A few clubs try to gamble – we are not part of this, we are serious. It’s all about the team. It’s quite difficult. We will see what happens. If somebody wants a player then they have to pay because we only have good players. Not as a present.”
Crystal Palace are also willing to £120,000-a-week wage demands as the club looks to break their club record transfer. The Belgian has scored 10 goals for Reds last season but has fallen down the pecking order since Jurgen Klopp has taken over at Anfield.
