It seems David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid will not happen this summer as the Spanish giants have clarified that they would entrust the duties of first choice custodian to Keylor Navas this season.

Marca claims that newly appointed Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has a special liking for the Costa Rican goalkeeper and he wants Navas to be the main custodian at the club this time. This clearly indicates that David De Gea might not turn up at Santiago Bernabeu this season even though he was heavily linked with the club.

The Spanish media further claims that the club has also sent out clear messages to Navas that “this is Keylor’s year, that’s all there is to it”.

Real Madrid had forced their club legend and Spanish international Iker Casillas to leave the club this summer as they were confident of bringing home Manchester United’s David De Gea. But since the player’s departure the specualtion of De Gea to Madrid have cooled down and the club have bought talented Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Keylor Navas had also featured in each and every pre-season game of Real Madrid during the off-season and did a fantastic job under the sticks. He was bought from Levante the preceeding season. He was benched for almost the entire year irrespective of performing brilliantly for Levante as well for Costa Rica in the World Cup.

The Costa Rican international is tipped to be the number one this season at Real Madrid which would automatically put the De Gea runours to halt.
