Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Porto’s Jackson Martinez in the summer. Various sources claim that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with the player and are currently negotiating the fee with FC Porto.
Arsenal are looking to off load the trio of Lukas Podolski, Joel Campbell and Yaya Sanogo before splashing the cash for the Colombian Martinez.
Lukas Podolski is set to return at Arsenal following his less than successful loan spell with Inter Milan. Podolski stressed that, he could yet have a future at the Emirates. However, the German looks set to head for the exit doors sooner than expected.
Joel Campbell has been tagged as a 6 million Euro target for Newcastle United. The Costa Rica striker had an impressive World Cup after which he was tipped to break in to Arsenal’s senior squad. Despite his efforts, Campbell could not find a place in the XI and now looks certain to leave Arsenal in the summer.
Yaya Sanogo enjoyed reasonable success during his loan spell with Crystal Palace and would seek a move away from Emirates to ensure more playing time.
Arsene Wenger is keen to free up space in his squad before bringing in Martinez, who is also linked with a move to Manchester United. Falcao’s departure and Van Persie’s rumored exit from the club has made Martinez the most likely man to add striking force at Old Trafford.
Martinez has openly stated his desire of leaving FC Porto next season to play for a bigger club in Europe. Martinez has a 35 million Euros release clause in his contract.
Martinez is currently on International duty with Colombia who will participate in Copa America, Chile.
