Louis van Gaal is close to an exit from Manchester United according to reports from several papers. He has not handled the situation well as he lost his players weeks earlier and has now lost most of the fans. He was under immense pressure before and the loss to Stoke might just be the last nail in the coffin for the Dutchman.
These rumors were taken to a whole new level as reports from Sky Sports revealed that Louis van Gaal failed to appear for the training session this morning. The Sky Sports Broadcaster claimed that the Dutch manager was not present at the training session and that Ryan Giggs was in-charge in his absence.
United are not really in a bad position at the 6th place in the points table just 9 points off League leaders Leicester City going into the New Year. But they have been able to pick just 3 points from the last 6 league games and have looked pathetic on the field in this period.
This has agitated the fans and pundits alike and with the news that he was absent for the training session this morning, many are speculating that the Dutchman has already been relieved of his duties.
However, the official announcement if made is not expected until Monday afternoon as United’s managerial announcements have long been timed so as to abide to the rules regarding their listing on the New York Stock Exchange, and that market will not be open again until 2.30 pm GMT on Monday 28th December.
With a crunch game against Chelsea looming over, it might not be the right time to send Van Gaal packing but it is just a matter of time before he is sacked as the manager of Manchester United. If and when he is relieved of his duties he will have ended a trophy-less reign at the Old Trafford.
