Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis is on the verge of joining his former side Atletico Madrid this summer after the La Liga side came to terms over the potential fee to resign the player. Sky Sports is certain that Atletico Madrid will sign the Brazilian left-back in deal close to £15million.
So far, there have been conflicting reports about the exact nature of Luis’ deal. Spanish media are projecting a season-long loan for the 29-year old left back while, British media suggests Atletico have re-signed the players on permanent basis in a deal worth £15million.
Luis joined Chelsea for £15.8million from Atletico Madrid last summer but has been left to be a squad player as Cezar Azpilicueta has continued his massive growth at the club.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has made it absolutely clear about how he feels if Luis is set to move back to Spain, Mourinho said: “If Atletico Madrid want him back then they have to pay and we have to discuss the offer.
‘If he leaves then we have to react and we have to go in the market [and find a replacement].’
Mourinho can be as direct as they come in the game and his assessment must be enough for Luis to understand that his time at Stamford Bridge has come to an end after doing virtually nothing during his 1-year stay with the club.
Chelsea are now favorites to sign Augsburg left-back Baba Rehman, whom Chelsea have been tracking for several months now.
