The Belgian has been recovering from two consecutive thigh and groin knocks suffered in the draw against Watford and the win against Crystal Palace over the past couple of weeks. He is expected to slot back in for the shabby Pedro in the Chelsea squad which visits Emirates for a showdown against the league leaders and the London rivals, Arsenal.
Eden has been having a terrible season so far as he has failed to score a single goal in a season where Chelsea have been poor overall and had been desperately needing his brilliance. The loss of form is being attributed to the disappointing pre-season from the club as well as the late return of star players, including him, back into the Chelsea fold.
The winger has been in limited training over the week and will return to full training by the weekend. This comes just a couple of weeks after Hiddink stated that he will not risk Hazard and would rather allow him to heal completely than worry about a relapse.
It will be interesting to see if Hazard makes the starting eleven or only the bench at the Emirates where Chelsea might be needing all the help they can get against their city rivals, Arsenal, who would be themselves looking for revenge for the 2-0 win Chelsea clawed against them back at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will also be missing Diego Costa who had bruised his tibia with a lunging tackle on Leighton Baines, deep into the Everton match. Hazard has been one of the replacements for Costa in the striker’s position over the season but without much tangible results.
With Pato expected to be coming in, it will be an exciting week for Chelsea fans as they could see the star of yesteryears link up with the reigning PFA player of the year.
