Liverpool eye Argentina’s Marcos Rojo: No doubt, Liverpool have been simpley sublime this current season and Brendan Rodgers’ side run chances of claimning the Premier League title in what will be a race till the end. While the Reds have outscored all the 19 other teams in the Premier League, their defense need reinforcements in the summer. Though Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Mamadou Sakho can be expected to do a commendable job at the back, major tabloids now claim that Rodgers has made Argentine Marcos Rojo his priority signing for the summer. The Sporting Lisbon player is the first hoice left back for Argentina in the coming World Cup and given his versatility of playing both in left back and the heart of the defense makes him an exciting option. The 23-year-old defender is an integral part of his club and even though 75 per cent of his contract is owned by an Investment company named Doyen Sports, Liverpool might well splurge the cash to get him at Anfield.
Elsewhere, Manchester United are thought to have wrapped up the signing of Sporting Lisbon’s 21-year-old midfielder William Carvalho while it is also believed that David Moyes has made Toni Kroos his priority signing for the summer. The Bayern Munich midfielder has hinted he might have to leave his beloved Bavaria but with contract talks hitting a roadblock, the Red Devils can well take advantage of the current situation.
According to the Sunday Express, Belgian side Standard Liege claim Tottenham are not interested in signing their 20-year-old top goalscorer Michy Batshuayi. The player has also been linked to Arsenal over a prolonged period of time. Spurs are also believed to lead the chase for French striker Loic Remy, who is currently playing at Newcastle uNited, on loan from Championship side Queens Park Rangers. This might just signal Roberto Soldado’s time at White Hart Lane, who has struggled in the Premier League following his move from Valencia in the previous summer.
The Sun claims that Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o, 33, is set to quit the club because he is still furious over boss Jose Mourinho’s joke about the player’s age and is likely to return to former club Real Mallorca this summer.
Tha Daily Express claims Italian side Napoli have made Arsenal’s 28-year-old out-of-favour defender Thomas Vermaelen their priority in the current summer. The Italian side are currently third in the Seie A and manager Rafa Benitez is believed to have been a long term admirer of the Belgian who has fallen out at Arsenal thanks to Koscielny and Mertesacker’s partnership at the heart of the defense.
