May 18, 2016 at 9:26 AM
Both the finalists of the Europa League were handed disappointed from their league campaigns and thus, they are ready to give their everything in the final. The door to Champions League will be open to the winner of the competition.
Tonight, on 19 May 2016 , Liverpool and Sevilla will fight each other for the glory. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is in search of his first ever trophy with his miraculous Liverpool, whereas Sevilla are the veterans of the competition, who are looking forward to winning their third consecutive Europa League.
Liverpool won unexpectedly against Dortmund and repeated the same against Villareal, on the other hand, Sevilla also eliminated Shakhtar Donetsk. Having lost only one game and scoring 18 goals throughout the tournament this season, Liverpool are certainly the favorites, but Sevilla’s experience will be a key for the Spanish side.
Here are the probable Line-ups:
Liverpool:
Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet
After a brilliant performance against Villareal, the Belgian shot stopper has booked the number one spot on the Reds side. Mignolet was sloppy in many games but in the both legs against Villareal, he proved his worth.
Defence:
Klopp has rested all his important defenders in the league game against West Brom to keep them fit for the final, which cost Liverpool two points as it ended with a 1-1 draw.
Kolo Toure is 35-year-old, experienced and looks to be a perfect replacement for Sakho, who has been banned for one and a half year due to failing the drugs test. Lovren has been brilliant but Clyne was sloppy at the start of the season but has improved with time. Moreno is a regular starter.
Midfielders:
With a great news of Henderson being fit for the final, Klopp will have something good on the bench too. Milner and Can will start at the central midfield while Coutinho and Lallana will play on the flanks. Though Lallana hasn’t yet performed to his full potential, Klopp trusts him. Firmino has been brilliant recently as an attacking midfielder thus he will have the role, he is familiar with.
Attack:
Divock Origi’s injury in the Everton game is a huge set back to the team. And with Benteke not performing up to the fans’ expectations, the Liverpool boss will surely play Daniel Sturridge ahead of the Englishman Danny Ings. Ings has returned from a very long term injury, maybe this is how Sturridge didn’t even have a mediocre season to show. The 26-year-old forward has shown that he can do great if injuries stay away.
Sevilla:
Goalkeeper: Soria will remain as Sevilla’s starting goalkeeper as he has shown great talent throughout the matches.
Defenders: Mariano, Escudero as right and left full backs respected and Rami Carrico as centre backs- this will be the defense line which will try to stop the high pressing fast Liverpool attack.
Midfielders: Krychowiak and N’Zonzi play deep in the midfield. The duo has been exceptional defensively, with N’zonzi already having some knowledge about the Premier League teams, he may prove to be the ace for Sevilla. Both of these two has been the unsung heroes for the team. On the further more up in the field plays Coke, Banega, and Vitolo- key behind Sevilla’s deadly attacks.
Forward: Last but not the least, Kevin Gameiro – The star player of the season for Sevilla in Europa will start and will surely enjoy a battle with Lovren throughout the game.
