10 matches for UEFA European Championship qualification were played on 5th September and the headline is definitely that England is the first team to qualify for the tournament after a 6-0 emphatic win over minnows San Marino.

Here is a round-up of all the matches that took place yesterday:

1> Luxembourg 1-0 Macedonia

Luxembourg defeated Macedonia thanks to a late goal which came at 90 minutes from Thill and gets one place ahead in the group C overtaking Macedonia. It is their first victory of the qualification campaign.

2> Ukraine 3- 1 Belarus

Ukraine keeps the third place in group C with a 3-1 win over Belarus and keeps pushing Spain and Slovakia. Goals came from Kravets, Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka and Kornilenko responded with a goal for Belarus.

3> Spain 2-0 Slovakia

The holders of the cup Spain moved to the top of the Group C thanks to a 2-0 win against Slovaks. Golas came from the feet of Jordi Alba and Andres Iniesta, but the headlines were stolen by magical David Silva who seems to be in the form of his life.

4> Estonia 1-0 Lithuania

Third-placed in Group E Estonia defeated Lithuania 1-0 have now 10 points compared to Slovenia’s nine.

5> San Marino 0-6 England

England has already qualified from Group E with 21 points from seven games following a 6-0 win over San Marino. Wayne Rooney scored his 49th goal for the Three Lions touching sir Bobby Charlton’s record of England’s top goalscorer ever. Barkley and Harry Kane scored one goal each with Walcott scoring a brace. Another goal came from the feet of San Marino international Broli’s feet. England is the first team to claim their place on the European Championship.

6> Switzerland 3-2 Slovenia

Switzerland came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Slovenia and now have 15 points to sit second in Group E. Josep Drmic scored twice and another was scored by Stocker. 

7> Russia 1-0 Sweden

Russia got their qualification from Group G hopes back on track by beating Sweden 1-0 courtesy of an Artem Dzyuba goal in manager Leonid Slutskiy’s first game in charge since he took over from Fabio Capello. Russia is now third in Group G with one point behind Sweden.

8> Austria 1-0 Moldova

Austria increases the gap from Sweden at the top of the Group G with a 1-0 over Moldova with Junuzovic getting on the scoresheet.

9> Montenegro 2-0 Liechtenstein

Montenegro has beaten Liechtenstein 2-0 with goals from Stevan Jovetic and Beqiraj and now sits fourth in the table with eight points from seven matches.
