After an embarrassing defeat at the Emirates, Manchester United found a way to win at the Goodison Park as they put 3 past the Toffees and also kept a clean sheet in the process. Louis van Gaal pledged that his team would show more determination and they certainly did as they cruised past Everton away from home.
Here are the player ratings for the match
Howard (3): Made some fine saves to keep the scoreline to a respectable level. Could not do much to stop the 3 goals that crept in.
Coleman (2.5): Made some uncharacteristic mistakes on a forgettable day but was good in offering width in the attack.
Stones (2.5): Was assured with the ball at feet but was often caught out of position by the United attackers.
Jagielka (3): Was sound defensively making a couple of crucial interceptions. Could have scored with his efforts on goal.
Galloway (2.5): An unconvincing display at the back as he gave far too much space for the United wingers. Rarely put in a testing cross at the other end.
McCarthy (2.5): Stuck to his task of breaking up play but rarely dominated the game like he would have wanted to.
Barkley (3): Troubled the United defense as he won a number of free-kicks in dangerous positions. Also had de Gea diving away twice to make a save.
Lennon (2): Was almost invisible in the game as he rarely had a chance to test the likes of Rojo down the flanks.
Barry (2): Hardly provided any cover to the back four of Everton as he was often overrun by the likes of Herrera and Mata.
Naismith (2): Lost possession far too many times in the first half and was subbed as a result at half time.
Lukaku (2.5): Was full of energy and running and troubled the defenders at times. But could not create enough space for himself to get a clean strike at the target.

Jones (3): Was there every time United needed him. Broke up play at important times as he capped off an all-round performance on his comeback.
Smalling (4): An assured performance at the back as he kept Lukaku quiet for most of the game. Made some important interceptions in dangerous areas.
Rojo (3): Was solid at the back not letting Everton any joy down his flank. Also provided a superb assist for United’s second goal.
Schneiderlin (4): Was instrumental at the back in breaking up play and also got himself a goal with a lovely finish.
Schweinsteiger (3): Assertive on the ball and showed glimpses of what he is capable. Picked up a yellow that reduced his impact on the game.
Herrera (3.5): Picked up a goal and an assist on the day and was at the heart of everything good coming from the Manchester club.
Mata (3): Troubled the Everton defense at times but was not too consistent. Was subbed away at half time.
Martial (3): Showed his pace and skill against the Everton defense as he put in cross after cross asking questions in a hurry.
Rooney (3): Was limited in his attacking prowess on the day but got himself a goal to give United all three points.
