Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped a huge update over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United. The forward has decided to quit the club this summer due to several reasons, with the first and foremost being United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League. While he has not been successful in finding a new club, Romano has insisted he soon could in a new update.
Ronaldo has been adamant on his decision of leaving United as he doesn’t want to miss out on the Champions League. Moreover, the club’s languishing condition in the transfer market has only added to the frustration of the mercurial player. However, no new club has come forward to snap up the forward despite his wish to exit the Red Devils.
A repeat of the events from the last summer expected from Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo made a dramatic comeback to Manchester United last summer, after ditching a last-minute move to their local rivals Manchester City. Juventus’ failure to perform in the Champions League was the reason Ronaldo wanted out and returned to Old Trafford.
The Portugal captain once again carried out his usual business, netting 18 goals in 30 Premier League outings last season. However, that was not enough for United to avoid a sixth-place finish to end up with Europa League qualification. Come new manager Erik ten Hag through the door, who was promised a squad overhaul in the summer market.
The Dutchman however was dealt with a huge blow as his talismanic forward Ronaldo conveyed his decision to leave, which proved to be irreversible. Moreover, United have been unable to attract their transfer targets as Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Ajax’s Antony having rejected moves to Old Trafford. The five-time Ballon d’or winner quickly asked his agent Jorge Mendes to facilitate a move to Champions League club.
Fabrizio Romano has issued an update regarding the same as he wrote on Twitter: “Cristiano Ronaldo situation. Jorge Mendes’ still working to find a solution, potential last-minute transfer as one year ago – Cristiano’s priority has always been to leave Man Utd this summer. Man Utd insist he’s not for sale – Jorge Mendes keeps exploring options.”

The Italian claims a repeat of the events from the last summer, where Ronaldo signed for United after the season began can take place this time as well. The 37-year-old featured for Juventus in their Serie A opener, whereas United too were three games into the 21/22 Premier League season when he switched sides.
However, he Fabrizio also mentions that United have still not green-light Ronaldo’s exit. The club wants their forward to respect the contract he penned last summer, according to which he still has to don the United shirt for one more year. Nonetheless, his agent Mendes is working tirelessly and is in talks with a number of clubs to broker a deal for his client before the deadline day.
