One of the few pieces of business at the Stamford Bridge was a loan spell for star striker Radamel Falcao. Falcao came to the Premier League in a similar loan spell at Manchester United but failed to have any kind of impact at Old Trafford.
An un-successful season at United put him in the transfer market and Jose Mourinho took no time to snatch him up hoping that he could provide a back up for his first choice striker Diego Costa. He moved to Chelsea in a season long loan but has not really had his impact on the squad.
The 29 year old made just 11 appearances for the club and scored just one goal in a disappointing season and has not featured for the club since October. Talking to Hola Columbia, He said “Chelsea are the team who bet on me, and I took that opportunity,”
Though the striker is grateful for the gamble the club took in signing him, he felt that he was not given enough opportunities to prove himself in the toughest league in Europe.
Falcao added, “However, it has been complicated because the team hasn’t started the season the best, nor have I been given the opportunities I want”.
“But I’m very grateful, very happy. As for the future, I hope to have more opportunities to show what I can do in the second half of the season.”
The Columbian was one of the hottest properties in world football just two season ago and is still a very talented player. He has been un-lucky with his injuries and has not really been able to get an extended spell at his new team.
Under Guus Hiddink however, he might be given more of a chance to prove himself and may even find the form that got him all the hype as an Atletico Madrid player. If he is not able to revive his best form quickly, he may go down as one of the biggest flops in the history of the Premier League.
