Former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports expert Gary Neville slammed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for his failure to sign quality players to bolster his squad. Arsenal drew 0-0 against Liverpool last night at home even after dominating the match completely.

Gary Neville opined that Wenger has failed to sign a commanding midfielder who could control the game for Arsenal, someone like a Patrick Vieira. Even though he praised player like Santi Cazorla, Neville felt that the Arsenal squad is not yet worthy of winning the Premier League title.

Speaking to Sky Sports Gary Neville said: “I think they are good players, Cazorla is fantastic to watch. But I’m talking about Arsenal winning the league.

“Think about Fabregas or a Paul Scholes when we were playing, fantastic player. You’ve got to build people around him. Facilitate what maybe they can’t do.

“To me it’s arrogance. I think it’s arrogance. I really do. To think that you are not going to adapt your team, to change to impact on the other teams that you’re playing against and their strengths.

“It is either naive or arrogance. Because they keep losing this way. Belief? It is misheld belief.

“We’ve talked about the likes of Vieira, Petit, Gilberto [Silva], [Martin] Keown, [Sol] Campbell, [Tony] Adams, all strong people.

“[It’s] certainly not what I would call what you want to win you a league.

“The powerful characters, the strength you need running through your team whether it’s a Blackburn team or a Manchester City team with Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany.

“The profile of players completely changed and the style has changed.”

Gary Neville’s comments were not completely wrong as Wenger definitely needs quality players in his squad. The defense looked vulnerable in absence of first choice central defenders Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

Also Olivier Giroud looked pathetic has he failed to convert several chances in the second half and remained out of position in the second half. There is still a week left in the transfer window and Mr. Wenger will have to think properly to make new additions into the squad.
