Galatasaray in advanced talks to sign Liverpool midfielder

Turkish giants Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva and talks are in advanced stages, reports Fanatik.

The 29-year old Brazilian midfielder still has one year left on his contract which is set to expire in June 2017 and Jurgen Klopp reportedly has no plans around the midfielder as the Reds are keen to offload the midfielder.

Leiva is currently surplus to their requirements with the arrivals of Georginio Wijnaldum and Marko Grujic. The Liverpool defensive midfield also has the likes of Jordon Henderson, James Milner and Emre Can which gives little room for the Brazilian.

The Reds are currently paying £80k-a-week in wages and Leiva has suffered an injury in their pre-season friendly which makes things even tough for him going into the new season.

The player himself admitted his future doesn’t look at Anfield, as he said: “There have been some changes last season, with the coaching change.

“I still do not know exactly what will be my role within the group, but I am returning on Thursday to start the pre-season.”It’s the first transfer window in which Klopp will participate more actively in Liverpool, so I will get a better idea when I return.”
