Giroud To Start? Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Basel In Champions League

After a thumping 5-0 victory over West Ham United away from home, Arsenal managed to jump into the 2nd place in the points table and will be hoping to stay strong in the domestic league. They have also qualified for the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League and are looking to go the distance in both the competitions, having being knocked out of the League Cup already. They face tricky test this week as they travel to Switzerland to face Basel in the last game of the group stage. A victory can help the Gunners to the top of the group table but it will also depend on the result of the other game in the group. So Wenger is expected to play a strong side and here is the lineup that he might field for this game:

Team News:

Arsene Wenger will still be without the services of Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin, Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck while Mathieu Debuchy also picked up a recent injury. However, Olivier Giroud and Mohamed Elneny are back in action and might start this game on the night. Gabriel, who picked up a knock against West Ham will be assessed before the game.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

David Ospina:

The first choice shot stopper for the Gunners in the Champions League, Ospina, should keep his place in the side for this game against Basel.

Carl Jenkinson:

Injuries to all other options at right back at the moment might see Wenger go back to Jenkinson, who is far from first choice for this game against Basel.

Laurent Koscielny:

Arguably the best defender in the league at the moment, Koscielny, has also been solid in Europe and should keep his place in the side for this game.

Shkodran Mustafi:

The German defender has been in sublime form this season and will hope to have an easy game this week against Basel.

Kieran Gibbs:

The left-back has not been able to push himself into the first team but will get his chance in this game on Tuesday,

Granit Xhaka:

Not the first choice midfielder anymore, Xhaka, has not been able to impress the manager enough but will get a chance to face his sibling on the night against Basel.

Mohamed Elneny:

Having got a few minutes under his belt at the weekend, Elneny, should make it into the starting XI for this game against Basel.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain:

The English winger was handed a start at the weekend and was impressive. He should keep his place in the side giving Theo Walcott a much needed rest this week.

Aaron Ramsey:

The Welsh midfielder had a superb outing last time around and he should start this game at Switzerland on Tuesday.

Alex Iwobi:

The Nigerian youngster has justified his place in the side everytime he has started and he should keep his place in the side for this game.

Olivier Giroud:

With qualification done and dusted, Wenger might look to rest a few key players to give Olivier Giroud a chance to lead the attack of the side in this game against Basel.
