Following the sacking of Rafa Benitez, Manchester United boss Manuel Pellegrini has trolled Rafa Benitez by saying “At least I finished the year…”

“At least I finished the year!”, Pellegrini said today.

“I knew from the beginning I was not to continue for the next year.

“There were some important differences with the president [Perez], but it is not strange when you see what happened in Real Madrid in the last five or six years.”

“I’m sorry for Rafa Benitez, he’s a manager I respect, but I’m not surprised.” added Pellegrini.

Does this picture ring any bells guys?

“He is a manager that deserves respect but it is not strange what has happened at Real Madrid in the last five or six years.

“Yes, (it is) absolutely different (at City). It is another way to think about the role of the manager. A lot of things are different.

“That is why one team is changing manager every year, and at this team it is not the policy of the owners to change immediately when you don’t win a title. Different projects for each club.” – Pellegrini was quoted saying.

Pellegrini also had some words for Zidane, who is now Real Madrid manager.

“Always to manage a big team is very difficult, Real Madrid is a very difficult team. But it is more difficult in the way they manage the club than the position of the manager.”

To take a look at the comparison of both the managers, Pellegrini and Benitez, let’s take a look at the stats.

La Liga win ratio of Real Madrid’s managers:

Benitez (64.7%)

Ancelotti (75.0%)

Mourinho (76.3%)

Pellegrini (81.6%)

Ramos (70.8%)

On January transfer window, Pellegrini has said today- “Probably no-one will come, and probably no-one will go out.”

“We have the correct squad for the season so not thinking about any special player or position.”

One may think How could this be? Benitez out without rumours when LVG and Pellegrini has been the talk of the moment.
