Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning a sensational swoop for Arsenal star Mesut Ozil. Speculations have been rife surrounding the Germany international’s future at the Emirates after the playmaker’s unwillingness to sign a contract extension and reports are suggesting that the Portuguese tactician is eyeing to cash in on the opportunity.
An improved wage demand from the player’s representatives is said to be the biggest reason for the delay in the new deal and reports are claiming that the club chiefs are not willing to accept the player’s demands. The former Real Madrid playmaker is currently earning £140,000-a-week, making him Arsenal’s highest earner on a deal that runs until 2018. But English news outlet The Sun has reported that United are trying to lure him to Old Trafford by offering him a whopping £250,000-a-week which is far better than the £200,000-a-week on offer from the North London club. The report claimed that although the player is not willing to leave the Emirates, he can change his mind if his demands are not met.
Moreover, Ozil’s good relationship with Mourinho can also help the Old Trafford outfit to sign the playmaker. Ozil played under Mourinho in Real Madrid and won the La Liga in 2012.
The 28-year old is currently enjoying the best form of his career is one of the biggest reasons for Arsenal’s brilliant start to the season. The German midfielder has scored 7 goals in 13 matches and losing him in the near future will be a big blow for the Gunners.
The Gunners have recently handed Hector Bellerin a new deal and will be hoping to tie down the German as soon as possible. They would also be desperate to hand a contract extension to Alexis Sanchez, who is also demanding an improved wage.
