Hull City piled more misery on Liverpool with a 2-0 win over their fancied opponents to leave them without a win in the Premier League this year.

After a tough few weeks, Jurgen Klopp’s men had got the much-needed boost with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Premier League leaders Chelsea midweek but their performance against the Tigers is bound to make Klopp a worried man.

The visitors dominated the possession right from the start but failed to manage a single shot on the target and paid the price for it when Alfred N’Diaye, signed on loan from Villarreal, capitalised on a mistake from Simon Mignolet to open the scoring just before the half-time. The Merseyside outfit improved after the break and almost equalised when Sadio Mane rose above Andrew Robertson at the back post, but was brilliantly denied by Eldin Jakupovic. Daniel Sturridge was soon introduced by Klopp but that did not make any difference as the Reds struggled to build any good attack. On the other hand, Hull constantly threatened on the counter and were finally paid for their good display when Oumar Niasse scored the second goal six minutes from time.

The defeat has now left Liverpool 13 points shy of Chelsea and they now face a fight to hold onto a top four spot.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:

An avid sports lover, i always wanted to pursue a career in football. But just like the millions out there i did not put in the hard work needed to achieve my dream and now i have become a fan instead of the player. Anyway, writing for sports has kept me closer to this field. One more thing, yours sincerely is a die-hard Liverpool fan. You will never walk alone.
