Indian football fans will be pleased to hear that Yan Dhanda is progressing very well at Liverpool.
Yan Dhanda became the first ever player of Indian origin to sign for Liverpool FC when he signed for the Merseyside giants at 14 years age.
The young lad of Indian origin scored a goal in a win over Lincoln City in an invitational match, continues impressive form in pre-season for Liverpool’s U18s.
Yan Dhanda impressed in the first pre-season match of Liverpool Under 18 also where he scored in 2-0 win over Irish side Cork’s academy team
The tie was organised by the home team in their effort to fund their “Centre of Excellence” (CoE). The match was held at Lincoln City’s home ground Sincil Bank.
After centre-back Michel Parker headed the young Reds into the lead from an imposing corner, it was the home team that struck back with a goal from Leon Loftus.
However, Dhanda had other ideas as he put Liverpool’s fledglings back into the lead through a well worked move, before Kris Owens completed the defeat for Lincoln City with a third.
The Liverpool U18s manager, Neil Critchley, elucidated on the win and on the performance of the lads, “It was a great evening once again and Lincoln were fantastic hosts.”
“It was a magnificent gesture to present the cheque which we accepted on behalf of the club.”
“We scored some good goals and it was another pleasing performance.”
Dhanda is the first player of Indian origin to play in the Liverpool academy, after stints with Aston Villa and most recently, West Brom, at academy level. He had picked up the ‘Up and Coming Asian Player of the Year’ category at the Asian Football Awards, hosted at Wembley, two years ago. He is continuing his progress through the Reds’ academy with stellar displays in his age group.
Yan Dhanda currently represents England at the youth level but he has the option to play for India due to his origin.
Indian fans will be hoping that the youngster progresses well at one of the best academies in word football and makes India proud.
