The wait is almost over! The eagerly awaited IMG-Reliance Indian Super League goes into the final stages of its inception as the Foreign Players’ Draft gets underway on the 21st of August. 10 A.M. onwards, it will be an intense tactical battle between the franchises as they look to acquire their best possible squad.

Andy Knee, vice-president of IMG-Reliance Indian Super League. was all praises for the international players in the central players’ draft. In a press conference ahead of the draft, Knee said,”We are thrilled with the calibre of international players who will be participating in the Indian Super League this season.They have the quality, skill, determination and ambition to thrive in India and ensure a great playing product to entertain the fans.”

The draft has been divided into 7 rounds with North East United, Pune FC and Delhi Dynamos to miss the first two rounds having already acquired two international players whereas Atletico de Kolkata will miss round 1 for roping in Borja Fernandez. The Central Players’ Draft pool consists of 49 international players including the likes of former Manchester United player Bojan Djordjic and English forward Michael Chopra. Spain tops the foreign players’ list with 9 players in the pool closely followed by France and Czech Republic

Each ISL franchise will have 22 players each, including seven internationals, and 14 Indians. The costliest player in the international draft will get Rs 4.5 crore ($750,000).
