Chelsea and Arsenal have been given clear signal to go ahead and sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. This comes after the Italian newspaper Calcio Mercato revealed how Inter Milan are keen on parting ways with the 23-year old just after 12 months at San Siro.
According to Football Italia, Arsenal were interested in signing the player but were beaten to the player’s signature by Inter Milan. Brozovic had signed on an 18-month contract with a buyout clause of over €20million.
Inter were very keen on signing the player on long-term basis but in recent weeks, it has seen a new twist as Chelsea and Arsenal claim to have opened talks with the player. Subsequently, Inter are looking at other cheaper alternatives and are willing to let go off the buy-back option at a price of £11million.
Chelsea have seen Cesc Fabregas drop down to an all-time low while Nemanja Matic is not the same player from last season. Arsenal have seen Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin get injured at crucial time and are struggling to put players in midfield. Their move for Ruben Neves has been put on hold with very little options up ahead.
That is why, Chelsea and Arsenal are in desperate need of new players in January if they want to enjoy a better second half of the season. Chelsea are struggling with points whereas Arsenal cannot handle the injuries at the moment. Both London clubs are keen on signing a player and Brozovic could very well be the option.
