Manchester United are looking to beat Arsenal to the signing of want-away PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Rabiot is a long-term Arsenal target and according to Don Balo, Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal is ‘ready to anger’ his Arsenal counterpart by signing Rabiot from PSG.

Rabiot has reportedly been on Wenger’s radar for the last two seasons and it will be a great coup if United manage to seal a deal for him. The 20 year old midfielder has already spoken about his desire to leave PSG in search of regular first team football. However, Rabiot insists he is only looking for a loan move and not a permanent transfer.

In December last year, Rabiot said: ‘I’ve asked the president for a loan move in January if my time on the field is insufficient. It’s something that he can’t refuse me – I know he likes me very much.

‘When you train all week, you want to be on the field. Sometimes it’s not possible and it’s frustrating.

‘Paris is my city. It’s great to play here. If I could impose myself here, it would be brilliant. I would be ready to play my whole career at PSG if I was a starter. I would see things differently, that’s for sure.’

Wenger’s interest in Rabiot is no secret and the Frenchman would not hesitate to make a move if Rabiot becomes available. But, it looks like United have identified him as their main target as Van Gaal looks to pip Wenger to the signing of Rabiot. It is believed that the midfielder is available in January and United do not want to miss out on signing a player of his calibre.

Many European clubs including Juventus and Napoli have also been pursuing the midfielder actively and his availability is surely going to lead to a transfer scramble in the coming days.
