The inaugural Indian Super League ended with Atletico de Kolkata defeating Kerala Blasters FC in a well contested match at Mumbai. Mohammed Rafique scored in the 94th minute of the game to clinch the title for Kolkata and it was fitting that an Atletico de Kolkata player scored the final goal of the season after it was Fikru who scored the opening goal in the ISL all those weeks ago.

Atletico de Kolkata may have won the big prize but there were a lot of other awards to be given out in the league, Top scorer, Best Goalkeeper and Most exciting player were just some of the categories in which players were doing their best and here are the winners from each of the categories.

Golden Boot Award

The Golden boot award was provided to the top individual goal scorer in the league and that went to the Brazilian and former Manchester City player Elano. Elano wowed everyone in the league with his dead ball delivery and scoring record. The Brazilian led the league with 8 goals in just 11 games and easily won the title.

There were 4 other players who were tied on 5 goals each, Slepicka, Hume, Dos Santos and Fikru all scored 5 goals each for their respective clubs.

Golden Glove Award

Given to the best goalkeeper in the league the award was won by Jan Seda of FC Goa, although the Goans did not make it to the final of the ISL, the second half of their season was exceptional and that was partly thanks to their goalkeeper who kept 7 cleansheets in the 14 games he played.

The next best goalkeeper was Bete of Atletico de Kolkata who had 4 cleansheets from 9 games and Roy Chowdhury of Atletico again with 4 cleansheets to his name.

Most exciting player of the league

An award handed out to the most exciting player of the league, the fans voted this one in and the nominees for this award were Fikru, Elano, Luis Garcia, Iain Hume and Gustavo Dos Santos. After the votes were counted and polled, the winner was Atletico de Kolkata’s captain fantastic Luis Garcia.

Garcia who was involved in almost all the best attacks and plays of the Kolkata team throughout the league might have won a lot more awards had it not been for a niggling injury which kept him from playing a few games.

Fair play standings

Something which was taken from the IPL, the fair play award really wasn’t something that a team would fight to win but it does make a season better in case a club hasn’t won much during the season.

The Delhi Dynamos won the Fair Play award beating another big named club Mumbai City FC with Kerala Blasters coming in third.
