John Swift, an English under 20 international and one of Chelsea’s most talented and promising players has extended his loan deal with the Bees over the remaining half of the season after impressing the management at the club. He has been playing in tandem with ex-Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran who had similarly starred for the Blues in cameos but had regressed since due to bad management and unfortunate injuries.
“John has lots of scope to develop further,” Dean Smith said of the signing.
“It is great to have him as part of the squad for the rest of the season.”
Smith is the head coach at the club and had been vocal about him wanting the talented midfielder over for the remainder of season from Chelsea.
John has fifteen appearances for his adopted club over the fifteen appearances since the stretch from October.
This infact will be his second extension with Brentford as he initially had only signed a month long contract with the Bees over the month of October but with a goal and assist in that period, convinced the management to extend the deal.
As the deal was extended until the end of year, it was clear to see that the midfielder had grown into the role at Brentford and was an important creative player for them. His three goals over the period, all coming from midfield have been impressive.
Things look on the up for the young classy playmaker as he looks to push for a place in the Chelsea squad over the next year. Even though chances look slim, a decent run of performances combined with managerial change could work wonders for the Englishman.
