Confirmed: John Terry offered 1 year contract extension

After a season of the worst Premier League title defeat, Stamford Bridge outfit Chelsea have already announced that Italian national team coach Antonio Conte will take charge of the team next season.

But a lot of players seem to be on their way out of the club this summer leaving the club in a state of an overhaul.

However, the Blues have now got something to smile about as the long-serving club legend John Terry, who was about to end his time at the franchise has now made some new strides.

The club’s official twitter account revealed earlier today that the 35-year old England international has been offered a new 1-year contract extension with Chelsea which will see him lead the club for another season.

A Chelsea spokesperson said: “(Director) Marina Granovskaia and (chairman) Bruce Buck met with John and his agent this week and offered him a one-year contract extension.”

“With it coming so late in the season, this is a big decision for John and his family and it is something that they are now considering,” he added.

However, it is understood that the player is still pondering over putting pen to paper.

The 35-year England international has made 703 appearances for the London franchise and has had a stellar career with the club.

However, at the beginning of this year in January, Terry revealed that he does not want to extend his contract with the club that is set to expire at the end of the current season.

But with the new manager Antonio Conte set to take over the club, it is understood that the legendary center back will be helpful for another year.

In the last game against Liverpool at Anfield, the travelling Blues unfurled cards asking the club to not let their skipper leave and it seems that the fans have got their wish with the ball firmly in Terry’s court now.

Even with age catching up, Terry is one of the best defenders in the Premier League but his current season has been hampered a lot with injuries.

But more than the game time, the experience he brings to the dressing room will surely help the struggling outfit get back to their best in the upcoming season.
