Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of West Brom defender Jonny Evan. West Brom manager Tony Pulis has given a hint that the former Manchester United defender could complete a deal with the Gunners. However, Pulis said that he is keen to keep Evans at the Hawthorns .
“You don’t want to lose your best players, but in football sometimes that happens. If it does happen, you need to make sure you know where your replacements are,” said Pulis ahead of his team’s clash with Everton on Saturday.
“If Arsenal comes in for Jonny, if we do any business we’ll do it between the clubs. I wouldn’t talk here about doing a deal with Arsenal or anybody else.
“The most important thing is that Jonny is with us and we want him to stay because he’s an outstanding player.”
With defenders Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista out due to injury, the north London club are desperate to land a defender at the Emirates and after they conceded 4 goals against Liverpool in the season opener, their search has become even more intense.
While Evans could be an experienced campaigner in terms of Premier League, the fans will be really disappointed after the Gunners were linked with the likes of Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez.
