Jose Mourinho All Set To Receive One-Game Touchline Ban Over Referee Rant

Jose Mourinho’s misery is only going to increase as the Manchester United boss is all set to receive a one-game touchline ban after being charged with misconduct by the Football Association (FA).
The Portuguese tactician lost his cool at half-time during his team’s goalless stalemate against Burnley when referee Mark Clattenburg did not award a penalty after Matteo Darmian went down in the box following a clash with Jon Flanagan. Mourinho was then sent to the stands for his verbal attacks towards the referee.
An FA statement confirmed: “Jose Mourinho has been charged with misconduct following Manchester United’s game against Burnley on Saturday 29 October 2016.
“It is alleged that in or around the tunnel area at half-time he used abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official.
“He has until 6pm on 4 November 2016 to respond to the charge.”
As per the rules, the standard penalty for a misconduct is a fine and one-match touchline ban if it is accepted by the manager. However, if the verdict is contested and the manager is found guilty, the penalty is a fine and two-match ban. If Mourinho decides to respond to the charge, he can make it to the technical area against Swansea City but if he is found guilty he will be in danger of missing the games against Arsenal and West Ham.
Mourinho, who has a bittersweet relation with the FA, is already facing punishment for comments made on referee Anthony Taylor ahead of United’s clash with Liverpool. Not only off the field, the Red Devils are going through a tough time on the field too. With just 4 wins in the first 10 games, the Old Trafford outfit is eighth in the table. Things are still not looking bright for them and Mourinho’s ban is definitely the last thing that they would have wanted.
