Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he and his team does not miss the service of veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech who had joined city rivals Arsenal this summer.
Chelsea had immediately found a replacement of Cech in Stoke City number one Asmir Begovic who joined the Blues last month. Begovic had played two pre-season friendly games for Chelsea and also fearued in the second half of the Premier League match against Swansea City after Belgian international Thibaut Courtois was sent off.
Begovic was resolute through out although he conceded the penalty goal. He will play in next week’s fixture against Manchester City as Courtois would have to serve a one match ban for his red card.
Mourinho was asked if they miss Petr Cech now as Courtois won’t be available for City game. ESPN quoted Mourinho: “We don’t miss Petr. We’ve got a good keeper, the problem with Petr is not that we miss him because we have two excellent keepers.
“The problem with Petr is that an opponent is better than before.
“Thibaut and Asmir are two fantastic keepers. My club did very well by getting a keeper on time and not on the August 31.
“If my club gives me a keeper on August 31, then we have a problem not just for today but also for the next match. Unless the people understand that it’s not a red card and they clear the suspension.”
Petr Cech who was a number one at Chelsea for 10 seasons made his Premier League debut for Arsenal yesterday against West Ham United. Cech had an horrible outing as Arsenal lost 0-2 against the Hammers in the very first match of the season.
The Czech Republic international was at fault for both goals especially the first one where he came of his position and completely missed the flight of the ball.
