In just a bit more than 100 days in England, Liverpool’s new-boy from Germany has already started negotiating deals and signing endorsement contracts in the country.
The 48 year old has signed a multi-year contract with German beer company Warsteiner. He is now set to be the face of face of the North Rhine-Westphalia-based brewer’s non-alcoholic Warsteiner Fresh brand in the UK.
The Germany’s largest private owned brewery has announced that it is set to launch a new campaign in April. The financial terms of the agreement are yet to be released.
“I am particularly pleased about this partnership because I associate the taste of Warsteiner with home,” said Klopp. “My grandparents owned a small brewery and I do enjoy a good beer.
“I am a German football coach and one of the ambassadors of our national sport, just like Warsteiner beer is one of the best ambassadors for the German beer tradition.”
Klopp was a huge success at the German club Borussia Dortmund before moving to England and signing a deal with Liverpool. He won 2 Bundesliga titles with Dortmund and took them to the Champions League final in 2013.
Catharina Cramer, the Warsteiner owner, added: “Jurgen Klopp is a perfect brand ambassador for our non-alcoholic premium beers. He is straightforward, authentic and close to the people. In particular, his passion is in line with our brand philosophy.
“He is a popular figure and we are thrilled that we will work together with Jurgen Klopp.”
Klopp however has a tough task at hand to take Liverpool to a top 4 finish after a January without a single win in the Premier League so far.
