Liverpool have really done well since the arrival of manager Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, who has managed to turn things around for them. Things were not improving under manager Brendan Rodgers and the sacking came at the right time for the Reds. After a series of draws, the former Borussia Dortmund manager finally won a game, though the unbeaten streak was eventually broken when his side went down to Crystal Palace. The Merseyside club are currently placed at 6th place with 23 points from 14 games and are slowly climbing up the table. A finish in the top four now seems a possibility and if they can continue their good run of form, a possible title challenge will also be on the cards.

Keeping that in mind, the German manager spoke in his press conference prior to the clash against Southampton in the League Cup and talked about various points related to his team’s recent performances.

Here is what he had to say as he spoke to the media, “I can’t say which team I will play tomorrow.”

“Swansea was a strange game. You need to open a different chapter for windy games.”

“You can’t create 20 chances in every game. Sometimes you just get one.”

“Simon Mignolet is one of the smartest keepers I’ve had.”

“I heard Southampton and Liverpool are not the best of friends, so it’s not going to be a friendly game!”

Talking about Steven Gerrard’s presence in the crowd previously, he added, “Everybody had a smile on their faces when they saw Stevie”

“The door always has to be open.”
