Just In: Liverpool agree deal for Brazilian forward

With injuries to a number of key players in the squad, Liverpool were bound to be a busy club in the January transfer market under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

In a window where they have already signed Serbian international Marko Grujic, Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement with star Brazilian striker for a move this month.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims that Jurgen Klopp’s side have reached an agreement to sign Alexandre Pato in a deal of around £11.28m with Corinthians.

The 26-year old Brazilian forward was one of the hottest properties in the world of football a few years ago. But he has since not been able to match his potential and has seen his career come to a stall with Corinthians.

But with Liverpool desperately in need of some options all over the field, it seems that Jurgen Klopp has turned to Pato for some respite.

The forward is known to be desperate for a move to the Premier League and it is understood that the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham are also scouting him.

But it now looks like Liverpool have won the race for his signature and look set to announce the deal any time soon.

Liverpool face two tough fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester United in the next two games and are low in options all over the field.

Injuries to Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel and Toure see the club short of centre halves while injuries to Ings, Origi, Sturridge and Coutinho will mean that they are badly in need of a goal scorer.

With Christian Benteke misfiring recently, Liverpool will hope to get this deal done quickly and see if he can help them take points from the tough fixtures.
