West Ham midfielder Michail Antonio has revealed that he is unsure whether he will sign a new contract extension with the club amid increasing interest from major Premier League clubs.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea are keen to swoop in for the winger as the 26-year old is in the form of his life at the moment with the Hammers. He has scored 8 goals and assisted six more in 24 Premier League appearances so far his season which has drawn attention from Manchester United and Chelsea.
Antonio was in sensational form for West Ham since he joined them for £7m in September 2015 and has been an integral part in their success after becoming a key player in the squad. His impressive performances were rewarded with new four year deal last summer.
“Right now, nothing is really happening on the contract talks,” Antonio told Sky Sports News.
“We’ll just see how things go. At the moment my head is not being swayed in any way. I just want to play my football and whatever happens happens.”
Antonio has enjoyed a brilliant debut season with the Hammers as he scored eight goals in 26 matches and helped West Ham secure Europa League football last season. After an impressive first half, the talented winger is continuing his good form and remains a key player for the club.
Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte is determined to sign the winger as he will provide a reliable option as they go to Champions League next season. The Italian boss is keen to promote more home grown players and Antonio fits the bill perfectly as the Blues are looking to add more options in their wide areas.
Despite the reluctance from West Ham to sell their star player, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea or United can pull off a deal this summer for the exciting winger.
