The “Kardashian Curse” has been cited as the reason for Arsenal’s failed title quest by their fans. Before Kim Kardashian attended a game in March, the Gunners had an eight-point lead. For their Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon, the celebrity travelled to the Emirates with her son Saint.
Arsenal not only lost that game, but they also quickly lost their form in the Premier League. Since that evening, Manchester City has won the league with three games to spare while the Gunners have won four, drawn three, and lost three of their league outings.
Arsenal fans take out their frustration on the ‘Kardashian Curse’
According to the Arsenal fans, the last straw was their 1-0 loss on Saturday (May 21) against Nottingham Forest. It all but ended the Gunners’ title bid, which was already dented by a dismal run of form which saw them draw three games in a row to drop six crucial points.
And now, Arteta’s men lost two games in a row, a 3-0 humbling at home at the hands of Brighton and 1-0 defeat against Forest who secured their Premier League status through the narrow win. The Gunners’ fans are in disbelief giving up points for free against struggling sides, and vented out their frustration of gift-wrapping the title to Man City on Kim Kardashian.
