The Stamford bridge faithful were shocked after their victory against the MK Dons in the FA Cup after long serving skipper John Terry announced that he will not sign a new deal with the London franchise.

Terry confirmed that he will leave the Stamford Bridge after the end of the season after a 17 and a half year playing career at the club which included 690 appearances so far. He won every major cup honor winnable in the country and is a true legend of the game in the Premier League.

Young defender and possible replacement for the veteran at the club Kurt Zouma said the he was shocked by his teammates decision and felt the it will almost be impossible to replace him at the end of the season.

The French international who is just finding his feet in the Premier League said that Terry had a lot more to offer to the game and expressed his concern over the possible impact on the club his captain’s departure at the end of the season will have.

“I am very surprised,” Zouma told the London Evening Standard. “Now we have to see what John wants to do because I think he can play for another one or two years.

“This feels like when we lost Didier [Drogba] last summer. He [Terry] is a huge personality at Chelsea. When you lose these kind of players, you have to replace them but I don’t know how John can be replaced. We have to think about it.

Didier Drogba came back to Chelsea to end his career at the club after a stint away from England. He showed in the previous season how important experience is as Chelsea have lacked that kind of personality in the dressing room.

Terry was shaky at the start of the season but has been solid as the season progressed making sure that Chelsea are not too embarrassed this season.

“For me he can play many more times. He is still at a top level. He has been playing very well since I arrived at Chelsea. He can continue for sure.

“His performances have been consistent. Since I have been at the club, I haven’t seen him play badly. That’s the truth. He was always helping everybody.

Zouma and Terry have started many games together and the young Frenchman will have been happy to play alongside the legend of the game and got to learn a lot from him.

“He has been a massive support to me. When I started my first games last year he was always talking to me. He is a legend and a very good leader. I have learnt a lot from him. I don’t know what to say, I am very surprised.”

Chelsea have a realistic chance of winning only the FA Cup this season and will hope to send the Club captain off with silverware in his last appearance.
