Leicester City 2-5 Arsenal: Player Ratings – Alexis Sanchez back to his best?

The Gunners knocked their rivals Tottenham out of the League Cup on Wednesday and backed it up with a five-star performance against Leicester City in the league game. Alexis Sanchez found the net thrice and gave Arsenal all 3 points from this fixture.

Here are the player ratings for the game.

Leicester City:

K Schmeichel (2.5): Should have done better to stop Alexis from scoring his second. Was solid in general.

R Huth (1.5): Was overrun by Walcott on the flank. Could not provide enough shield at the wings.

R de Laet (2.5): Stood tall most game but showed his weakness when dragged wide by the likes of Sanchez.

W Morgan (2): Tried hard to put pressure on Arsenal but was not able to stop them from scoring.

M Albrighton (2.5): Was a handful for the Arsenal defense on the left but faded away as the game progressed.

D Drinkwater (3): Smart with the ball and in defense. Shielded the back four to a certain extent.

N Kante (2): Was full of ideas at the beginning of the game but like his teammates, couldn’t produce much later in the game.

J Vardy (4): The best player on the field for Leicester. Scored twice on the day and was full of energy for the whole match.

J Schlupp (2.5): Was impressive at times in attack but did not do enough to stop the visitors from scoring their second.

S Okazaki (1.5): Not very impressive in partnership with Vardy. Rightly taken off at half time.

R Mahrez (2): Bright as usual but was dwelling on the ball for too long which frustrated the home fans. Not his best game in Leicester shirt.

P Cech (3): Was commanding in his box and pulled out a fine save to deny Schlupp in the first half.

L Koscielny (3.5): Always alert to the situation and never allowed any space to the home team.

H Bellerin (3): Another solid display on the flank on both end of the field.

N Monreal (3.5): A good game for him as he provided great stability at the back against the likes of Mehrez.

P Mertesacker (2.5): Was solid on the whole but was exposed at times when dragged out wide.

M Flamini (2.5): Did not affect the game much before being subbed off due to an injury in the 21st minute.

M Ozil (3.5): Showed glimpses of his previous best and also controlled the tempo of the game up front.

S Cazorla (4): Was a livewire in the mid-field and took the game to the home side from the deep in the second half.

A Ramsey (2.5): Played out on the right and could not affect the game as he would have liked.

T Walcott (3.5): Picked up a goal with a sublime run and also troubled the Leicester defense all throughout the game.

A Sanchez (4.5): A stunning display from the Chilean as he scored his first league goal and two more. One of the best nights in an Arsenal shirt.


Arteta (2.5): Replaced Flamini in the 21st minute and stuck to his task till the end.

A Oxlade Chamberlain (3): Made some mazy runs against tired Leicester defence. 

O Giroud (3): Got himself a goal with a great effort in extra time.
