The 3rd round of FA Cup provides more headache for the Liverpool manger Jurgen Klopp in the midst of a busy schedule. Just days after losing 4 players hamstring injuries, Klopp will have to send in a weakened team but will attract criticism if he is not able to get a result out of the game. This dilemma is sure to keep Klopp sleepless as we look at the best XI he can send out on the night.
Liverpool gave the likes of Jordan Henderson, Flannagan, Skrtel, Sturridge, Sakho all out while Coutinho, Ibe, Lovren and Toure picked up injuries recently. It leaves the manager with little depth and will send out a relatively in-experienced XI at the St James’ on Friday. Here is how the Reds are likely to line-upsagainst Exeter:
Mignolet kept yet another clean sheet in the League cup semi-final and will mostly be rested for this game while Adam Bogdan is expected to take his place.
Randall was not too bad in his first appearance for Liverpool in the League Cup and with injuries looming over the squad, will get another chance to impress.
Ilori returned to Liverpool after a failed loan spell at Aston Villa and will slot straight into the back line for the Reds who have not fit center halves for this game.
The Brazilian played out a good game at the back after the injury to Lovren and might be played once again as a center back when Liverpool face Exeter on Friday.
The Australian international has impressed in his last few outings for the Reds and will surely start at the left back position for Liverpool on Friday.
The 19-year old already played under Klopp in the League cup and will be waiting for his chance to impress when he faces Exeter City at the St James’ on Friday.
Allen played a very good game against Stoke City on Tuesday and will start at the heart of the mid-field for Liverpool in the FA Cup encounter.
The England international was declared fit just in time to face Stoke and came into the game in the first half for Coutinho. He will start the game wearing the captains arm band against Exeter City.
Joao Carlos Teixeira:
The Portuguese International was superb in his last game for the club but did not get enough chances since then. He will hope to get an extended spell in the starting line-up with an impressive performance on Friday.
Lallana is one of the most improved players in recent times and will need to be at his best to break a stubborn Exeter defense with a weakened Liverpool side on Friday.
Another Player called back from a loan spell, Kent is a natural winger who will provide Liverpool with the width to break up the home side’s defense on the night.
The Belgian forward was not at his best in the game against West Ham but will surely get his chance in the FA Cup encounter against Exeter on Friday.
Klopp has also expressed his desire to treat every cup game equally and may throw out a stronger side to try and see off the challenge posted by Exeter. Firmino, Clyne, Moreno, Mignolet and Can may all get a chance to start on Friday. Here is another way Klopp might line his team up:
Simon Mignolet; Nathaniel Clyne, Tiago Ilori, Lucas Leiva, Alberto Moreno; Joe Allen, Emre Can, James Milner; Adam Lallana, Joao Carlos Teixeira, Roberto Firmino.
