Liverpool are planning to assault Manchester United by signing their key long-term target Arturo Vidal in the summer.

As per the reports from Mirror, Liverpool have held initial round of discussions with the player’s representatives and a deal looks like a possibility.

Vidal has been an ever-present name to be linked with a switch to Old Trafford for last 2-3 seasons but the player has always chosen to stay with the Serie A giants Juventus.

Vidal’s knee injury was a major scare why the new Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal did not make a move for the Chilean star after he suffered another blow to his knee during the world cup.

Vidal has been able to shrug off his injuries and play regular football for Juventus and with Steven Gerrard’s exit from the club, Vidal looks like the best replacement for Liverpool.

Vidal is a typical box-to-box midfield player who loves to run the game on his own and take on the opposing midfield. Vidal’s energy, tenacious tackles and powerful shots are few of the facets which will make him an instant favorite at Anfield.

It will take a huge bid from Liverpool to sign the Chilean from the Serie A champions and Champions League finalists. The only positive for Liverpool here is if the player has decided to move on to a different challenge after successfully plying his trade in Bundesliga and Serie A.
