Southampton vs Liverpool – Predicted lineup of Liverpool, star striker missing

Sumit Rudra / 24 October 2015

Klopp’s Reds play the second of three games in six days when Ronald Koeman’s Saints arrive for an important league clash.

The German will be looking to spark an upturn of form into a struggling Premier League campaign in the 100th clash between the two sides, and build on the hard-fought point at White hart lane last weekend.

Liverpool Team news:

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge remains a doubt for Sunday’s visit of Southampton after undergoing an ultrasound scan on a troublesome knee.

The England international has missed the last two matches and will have to prove his fitness in training the day before the game.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp’s forward options have been improved by the return of Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino after a month out.

Provisional squad: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Lucas, Milner, Can, Coutinho, Lallana, Benteke, Bogdan, Toure, Randall, Allen, Ibe, Firmino, Origi, Teixeira, Sinclair

The Expected Lineup XI (4-3-2-1): Mignolet(GK), Benteke, Lallana, Coutinho, Can, Lucas, Milner, Moreno, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho

Sunday’s visitors have lost only one of their last seven league games, picking up three draw and three wins – one of which was an impressive 3-1 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on their last away trip.

However, the Saints currently sit level on points with Klopp’s side – two places above the Reds only on goal difference despite this positive run of form.

In contrast, Liverpool has just one win to show from their last seven league games 11 in all competitions and with the title of draw specialists following seven stalemates in their last eight matches.
