Liverpool have Manchester City are going head-to-head in the battle to sign Newcastle’s midfield star Moussa Sissoko. According to Daily Star, a £17million price tag has been set for Sissoko and both the Premier League clubs are willing to meet the asking price.
Manchester City need an enforcer from midfield after not knowing the extent of Yaya Toure’s stay at Etihad Stadium and they need to find an apt replacement for the Ivorian. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s transfer activities have been known to everyone but they might go one step further and sign Sissoko to strengthen their already looking formidable midfield.
Sissoko has been encouraging the teams to bid for him after the player was reportedly quoted saying that playing for the Champions League side has been his dream and he is sure that the day would soon come in his life.
How would Sissoko fit at Liverpool or Manchester City?
Sissoko has developed a reputation for being the hard tackler and a plyer who can go on surging runs. Having said that, Sissoko can ideally play as the holding midfield player which Emre Can is expected to play right now and the German U-21 International could go back playing at central defense where he thrived last season.
Doing so would give Brendan Rodgers more depth in defense as well as midfield and push for a greater finish next season.
As for Manchester City, Sissoko can replace Fernando or Fernandinho in midfield to slot alongside Yaya Toure. Manuel Pellgrini looks to operate with two front men and if he goes on to do that yet again this season then fielding Sissoko would allow his attackers the freedom to go on and create havoc for opponents.
