Liverpool star finally close to making much awaited return to the game

Jurgen Klopp will be a happy man after the start his team has made to the new Premier League season. They have taken 7 points from the first 4 games and are looking a confident outfit ahead of the crunch times next season.

The manager added a number of top quality starts to his lineup in the summer this season and has made the side stronger and deeper going into the new season.

However, the defensive areas are still a bit weak in the squad and there is common consensus among the fans that the manager should have added a left-back and a defensive midfielder to his squad in the summer.

Though they lack depth in both positions at the moment, it is understandable that the manager did not want to spend big without a proper fit available but he might get some back up for his defense according to recent reports.

Young English international Joe Gomez, who was a great addition to the squad last summer under Brendan Rodgers, is reportedly close to making a come-back into first training.

The 19-year old displaced Alberto Moreno on the left flank at the start of the previous season under Rodgers but picked up and ACL injury in an international break early that season.

He has ever since been away from the game and has not featured even once under the new manager. But it looks like Klopp values him highly and is looking at him to provide cover for his defense after not spending on one in the summer.

It looked like the defender would be back in action in July after recovering from the ACL but he later picked up an unfortunate tendinopathy in his Achilles.

This saw his return to the game postponed with no real pre-season games leaving him with a lot of work to do in training before making it into the first team.

However, it is finally revealed that Gomez can put behind his injury nightmares in a month’s time and that he will back in full training in October.

However, he may not be playing a competitive game for the club for another couple of months till he regains full match fitness.

It is revealed that he has worked hard and tirelessly with the medical staff at the club but having sat out of the game for an year, it will not be easy for him to get back to the game immediately.

The 19-year old has already earned a lot of respect from the Anfield faithful and is one of the most exciting talents in the domestic football in the country.

The Reds’ manager is also understood to rate him highly so it is now just a matter of dusting himself up and getting back to the game as far as Joe Gomez is concerned.

He will hope that he can make an immediate impact on the squad when he return to action. Do you think Klopp was right in not buying a defender and waiting for Gomez to be fit?
