According to latest reports, Liverpool star and stand-in captain Jordan Henderson has drawn interest from Spanish giants Barcelona. The midfielder has become ever so important for Liverpool this season.
With Henderson having only 16 months left in his contract, Barcelona are trying to sign him for free next summer. Barcelona are planning to make Henderson sign pre-contract in January next year.
Brendan Rodgers will look to offer the 24-year old mid-fielder a new deal during the next few months but a Barcelona interest could become a factor for Henderson in the coming months whether to sign a new deal or not. The mid-fielder has so far scored 5 goals in all competitions this season.
With Barcelona banned by UEFA on Financial Fair Play sanctions, the Catalan club cannot make any transfers throughout 2015 which includes both winter and summer transfer windows. Jordan Henderson has made his presence felt this season with vital contributions to the team.
With Steven Gerrard leaving the club in summer to LA Galaxy, Henderson is expected to take the captaincy of the Reds. It is also reported Barcelona have sent out scouts for Liverpool games but it is not sure whether they are scouting Henderson but his contributions cannot go unnoticed by them.
