Oh boy! Weren’t the fans that were supposed to be frustrated with one of the most gifted strikers in England? Apparently, Liverpool starlet Daniel Sturridge wants to move out of the club this summer after the criticism he has faced recently.
The England number 9 is one of the most loved players at Liverpool but with just 25 appearances from the start of the last season has left a number of fans including ex-players such as Dietmar Hamman and Phil Thomson, who have urged the new Liverpool boss to look for a replacement in the market.
Klopp also recently publicly criticized the striker and it is now reported that Daniel Sturridge wants to quit Liverpool at the end of the season. Sturridge who has now had a full training session feels that he is fit for the game against Sunderland but Klopp wants him to train for a longer time before getting him back into action.
The 26-year-old still has two-and-a-half years to run on his £150,000-per-week contract, meaning Liverpool are likely to demand a high price. He has the qualities of a £60million striker, but his fitness record means he is likely to be valued closer to £20m.
Sturridge is also reportedly happy to move to a Premier League club and this has put a number of top clubs who are in the transfer market on alert. Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all searching for a top class striker and will surely try to add the striker to the squad.
There is no doubting his class or his ability but the number of times he has been injured since his move to the Anfield outfit has marred the quality of Daniel Sturridge. At his best, he is one of the most accomplished finishers and can give a huge lift to any team’s attacking line.
He is now desperate to prove his fitness from now and the end of the season and help the club in their pursuit of the Europa League, FA Cup and the Capital Cup along with the domestic league.
But it is easy to understand why the striker is frustrated at the club. Sturridge who provided those sensational moments just 2 years ago is now criticized for not showing enough desire to play for the club.
No one more than he is desperate to get back into action but especially before the EURO16 later this year but the star striker should be able to keep himself fit till the end of the season, else the club might sell him anyway.
But for the sake of the struggling Kop, let’s hope Daniel Sturridge keeps himself fit and lift Liverpool into a better position.
Should Liverpool let Daniel Sturridge leave this summer?
