Liverpool are all set to make a move for Brazilian starlet Allan Rodrigues de Souza.
Liverpool are looking to reinforce their academy also as well as the first team and already signed two highly rated young players Dutch winger Bobby Adekanye and American striker Brooks Lennon.
Allan, who currently plays in his homeland with SC Internacional, is a skillful midfield player who is regarded as one of the best up and coming talents in South America.
According to sources Liverpool coaches were impressed by Allan during the Frenz International Cup, which was held in Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur earlier this year and included both club’s Under-18 teams.
The Reds narrowly missed out on the Under-21 equivalent of the Premier League title last season, finishing second to Manchester United, but with the likes of Harry Wilson, Jerome Sinclair and Sheyi Ojo now eyeing up first-team spots it seems that our owners are making a concerted push to reinforce our options at youth team level.
Allan, as he is more succinctly known, would cost around £500,000 and represents part of a concerted effort by Liverpool to bolster their options at youth level this summer.
The Anfield club have this week signed 16-year-old Dutch winger Bobby Adekanye, who was available after his 2011 move from Ajax to Barcelona was declared illegal by Fifa, and 17-year-old striker Brooks Lennon. The United States under-18 international spent a trial period at Liverpool in January 2014 and has joined from MLS side Real Salt Lake, where he scored 31 goals at academy level last season.
Allan’s compatriots in the Liverpool senior squad are Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Leiva and new arrival Roberto Firmino and getting the young Brazilian will be a great addition for Liverpool’s future.
