After a disappointing season for Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers managed to make some smart purchases in the transfer window. But it remains to be seen if they can improve on their performance last season. They started the new season with a clean sheet away to Stoke and took all 3 points from a very tough fixture. They will play their first home fixture against newly promoted Bournemouth and will want to take all three points away from the game.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, started their season in the top flight with a loss to Aston Villa at home. They looked potent with their attack and were also a bit disciplined in their defense. Eddie Howe will look to take his team to their first victory this week but Anfield will not be a ground that will be easy to play at. In this article, we have previewed the game along with predictions and the expected lineups of both the teams.
The game will be played on the 17th of August at Anfield. The kick off is scheduled at 8:00 pm BST (18th Aug at 12:30 am IST).
For the home team, Sturridge, who is still injured, will miss out along with Joe Allen who picked up a stain in a pre-season friendly game. Sturridge’s absence may not be felt with the likes of Benteke and Ings available for selection. Jon Flannagan will also miss out on this game and has some time before getting back to match fitness.
Eddie Howe will miss the services of Arter who is expected to return next week. The team lacks a bit of depth and will have problems if they incur more injuries on the road. MacDonald who is suffering from an ankle injury is also doubtful starter for the game at Anfield. This game will give the manager a chance to assess his best XI for the rest of the season.
Liverpool won their first fixture against Stoke but the game was not something to remember for the fans. With very few shots on target, they still have a lot of work to do in the attacking front. They will have to be precise in the final third and need to find goal scorers which they lacked last year. This game against Bournemouth gives them exactly what is needed for the team as it gives them a chance to settle into the squad and a victory will only give them confidence.
Bournemouth will have their work cut out against Liverpool at the Anfield. They were good in bits in their first game against Villa but Liverpool will pose a completely different threat to their defense. They will have to be at their best and leave no room for complacency if they want to get anything out of the game. The manager will have to settle his squad down before we enter the busy festive season.
1) Liverpool win – 1.45
2) Draw – 4.75

Both teams had contrast start to their Premier League season. There is a vast difference in the quality in the squad as well. We can expect Liverpool to dominate the proceeding at Anfield and to make life as hard as possible for the Bournemouth players. We expect Liverpool to go out of this match with all three points.
