Liverpool vs Chelsea: Where To Watch, Live Streaming, Date, Timing, Squad, Lineups, Venue:
In a clash between the ninth vs tenth in the Premier League, Liverpool take on Chelsea at Anfield. Both the English top flight’s heavyweights are struggling this season, as they are well off the top-four places. However, there’s one more similarity between the two, with their injuries. Liverpool will be without a number of key players again for this game, as they miss Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Arthur Melo and Virgil van Dijk.
The likes of Roberto Firmino and Kostas Tsimikas are doubtful, with star striker Darwin Nunez expected to start from the bench. Liverpool have already endured a difficult season, sitting ninth in the league and knocked out of the Carabao Cup, and there could be more suffering with a two-legged affair coming up against old foes Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16. Only a win here at home against the Blues would truly instill a sense of confidence in Jurgen Klopp’s men.
While Chelsea share some similarities with Liverpool, there’s a big difference as well in the staggering amount spent by the two teams to overcome the injury crisis. The Blues are almost without a dozen first team players, owning to injuries, but have brought in half-a-dozen players in this month’s transfer window, spending close to £200m. On the other hand, the Reds have just signed Cody Gakpo from PSV for £37m.
However, Chelsea boss Graham Potter recently admitted that these signings and the enormous spending will not guarantee immediate turnaround and that patience has to be kept. But club owners won’t share the same sentiment, as early reports claim that the Todd Boehly led consortium is already considering options for Potter’s replacements. Its thin ice for the former Brighton manager, and he has to walk over with it while keeping the balance by churning out positive results, starting from the Anfield.
