Norwich City got promoted back into the top tier of English Football this season after missing out only for a season. But the most dreaded fixture for the fans has been against the Anfield outfit. Luis Suarez gave nightmares to the Norwich City defenders during his time in the Premier League, but Liverpool are a far cry from that team and are going into the game with a bit of dent in their confidence.
Norwich City will hope that they can produce something out of this fixture which will not involve Suarez for the first time in 3 years. Alex Niel will know the importance of away games especially at the place like Anfield. He will set his team in the best possible manner to take something out of this game. Here is the preview of the match between these two teams. Team news and Predictions are also included.
The Liverpool vs Norwich City match will be played on Sunday the 20th of September at the Anfield in Liverpool. The kickoff is scheduled at 4:00 pm BST (8:30 pm IST).
Liverpool will miss the services of their skipper Jordan Henderson who has not featured in the last three games for the reds. Joe Allen and Flannagan are also set to miss out due to injuries. Kolo Toure picked up a knock in the midweek in a Europa League game and will be on the sideline for some time. The biggest news, however, will be the return of Daniel Sturridge who might start on the bench on Sunday.
Norwich City will not be able to Andre Wisdom who is on loan from Liverpool. Hooper and Mulumbu are the only players on the injury list for Alex Niel as he will enjoy a squad that is almost fully fit.
Liverpool’s last game ended in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Manchester United. They lacked the intricacy to open the Manchester United defense and their frailties at the back made sure that they gave away all three points. They were really poor defensively and will need to improve drastically at the back.
Jarvis and Hoolahan have shown what they can do in some of their previous matches but will have to put enough pressure on the Liverpool defense if they want to break it. However, the return of Adam Lallana and Philipe Coutinho will strengthen the squad and Liverpool will like to get back to their winning ways.
Bassong and Martin will have their work cut in front of a vocal Anfield and will need to be confident else Norwich may well crumble and give away the game without a fight. But the Liverpool camp is also feeling a bit low and their European Fixture that ended in a 1-1 draw will not give them a lot of confidence either. But this game may just prove to be what they needed in terms of getting their confidence back.
Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Sakho, Skrtel, Gomez, Can, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Benteke, Firminio.
Norwich City: Ruddy, Whittaker, Martin, Bassong, Brady, Redmond, Howson, Tettym Jarvis, Hoolahan, Jerome
Norwich City: 6.25
Though Liverpool have failed to impress in the last 3 games, they have the depth in the squad and a home game against a newly promoted side should not be a huge task for Liverpool to see off. Norwich may provide some threat, but Liverpool will be confident of getting a result out of this game.
Our Predictions: Liverpool 2-1 Norwich City.
