Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were not at their best in the last week as they have not been able to score even a goal in the two matches against Newcastle and Sion. They looked a bit rusty in both the matches and need to sharpen up if they want to catch up with the clubs at the top of the table. The weekend’s Barclays Premier League fixture is another opportunity to do the same.
Liverpool play Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion side this Sunday in a game that the Reds will try to find some home form. They have not really been able to extract home victories like they have done away from home and will want to take all three points from the game. Here is the preview of this game along with the Team News, Predictions, Odds and Expected Line-ups.
The Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion match will be played on Sunday the 13th of December at the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool. The kick-off is scheduled at 4:00 pm BST (9:30 pm IST).
Jurgen Klopp will be happy with the return of his little Brazilian Phillipe Coutinho who played a cameo in the 0-0 draw against Sion. He is expected to start on Sunday. Daniel Sturridge, Sakho, Ings and Gomez are all out of this game due to various injuries while Jordan Ibe and long term absentee Jon Flannagan are doubtful for this game. Lucas and Moreno both of whom did not travel with the squad for the European fixture might start against the Baggies.
Tony Pulis will not be too concerned about his injuries list with Ben Foster and Sessegnon the only two absentees for this trip to Anfield. Sessegnon limped off in the game against Tottenham and will not feature for the team for a while. Yacob will be available for selection after serving a suspension in the last game. Rondon is expected to lead the side with McClean and Gardner on the wings.
Mignolet; Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Lucas, Can Henderson; Lallana, Benteke, Coutinho
West Bromwich Albion:
Myhill; Dawson, McAuley, Olsson, Brunt; Fletcher, Evans, Morrison, Gardner, McClean; Rondon
Coutinho vs Evans:
Coutinho’s absence was felt by the Red of Liverpool in their last two games. His return will add spark to the Liverpool front line and will put the Baggies defense under pressure. Jonny Evans will have to stick to the Brazilian and afford his no space else he can really hurt the visitors and take away the game.
McClean vs Clyne:
Clyne has been the most consistent defender for Liverpool this season. He has been solid at the back and will be up against a dazzling McClean on Sunday. McClean is a busy player who loves to run the defense ragged. The ex-Southampton right back should be careful to not give him space to run into else he can take the game away from the home side.
West Bromwich Albion: 9/1
Liverpool has struggled at home this season and also under their new manager. The German wants his new clubs home to be a fortress and this is the right time to send the message across to his competitors. However, it will not be easy for them to beat Tony Pulis’ side and will have to work hard if they want to take all three points from the game.
Liverpool 3-2 West Bromwich Albion
